Michael Cardenas is a Mexican American Director & Cinematographer based in Los Angeles and New York.
He began his career shooting Live and Documentary work with Touring Artists before transitioning into Narrative and Commercial production, where he worked his way up through the Camera Department.
Mentorship with Ron Goodman at SpaceCam Systems forged his path in Aerial Cinematography and high end stabilized camera systems. That path led to Operating Helicopter, Drone, Steadicam, and Pursuit vehicle platforms.
Working alongside Hollywood’s best Directors and Cinematographers has allowed him to build on that technical foundation, combining his understanding of camera movement, technology, storytelling, and on-set problem solving to best serve the story.
Michael’s years behind the camera inform his work as a Director & Cinematographer, giving him a deep understanding of how to move ideas from concept to deliverable while keeping productions on schedule and on budget.
Notable recent work includes serving as 2nd Unit Cinematographer on Casey Affleck’s Feature Film “Company”.
